Bulldog Communications is a small, virtual, public relations agency, wherein the three principals work out of their respective homes. It’s a good model, one that allows us to charge very reasonable prices to our clients because we have very little overhead. My partner and I each have over 25 years’ experience in marketing and public relations. We’ve worked in the big firms, we’ve worked in the small firms, and we’ve worked in corporate PR and marketing departments. We like this model and it has proven to be very effective.
The person we’re looking for will be doing a lot of hands-on work: pitching stories, creating media databases, talking with editors, creating social media, the works. They will be able to do most of the work from their home or apartment, as long as they have a computer and a phone. But they can also come into the North Andover office once a week to regroup and brainstorm on ideas and strategies.
A lot of young people want to work in the big PR and advertising firms, but what this internship does offer is a chance to do real, hands-on PR work, not just busy work. Interns will work on real projects and be expected to get real results. And given that I have over 25 years in this business, I guarantee they will learn more about the PR industry than in one of the big-name firms, where they may be put into a cubicle and forgotten.
